Newcastle at the Top Again

Leeds United Beaten

A goal scored in each half enabled Doncaster Rovers to beat Leeds United in a friendly match at Belle Vue, where there was a satisfactory attendance of 6,843. Doncaster had the better of the first half. They showed better understanding than the Leeds team and the introduction of Lievesley, who was playing his first game for them at right half, was a success. Walker, right back, and Rayner, inside right, also did well. United improved in the second half, when they showed superior speed, but their finishing left a lot to be desired. Powell made one or two capital efforts and Brown and McGraw were also dangerous, but they could not score. Copping was outstanding in the half-back line. Bycroft (30 minutes) and Rayner (75 minutes) scored Doncaster's goals.
